TM: Relaxing entertainment? | 05 Apr, 2012 |

Finally, after a hard day at work/school/the unemployment line/living an international playboy life/etc. you get home and sink down in your well-worn computer chair to relax with some of 1's and 0's composed entertainment. Naturally (since you're reading this), you choose a creative racing game from a small french studio. Every dedicated player starts out their sessions with a look at MX; the centerpiece of the trackmania community (if you're from another site, bleh bleh on you). This is where all your TM friends are, where all the tracks are, all the projects, all the competitions; all the EVERYTHING!
While it is great to have such an awesome community sharing the same interest for this intelectually stimulating and fun game as you have, it might bring certain obligations. Home from the deadlines, must-do's, and commitments of your daily life, you sit down and face more of the same. People talk about stress from facebook, but I can honestly say that no website has ever brought me more stress over the years than TMX has. It can be as little as remembering to thank everyone for their awards or staying above the douchebag-line (probably subject for another, more light-hearted, blog post) but more so from MTC's, community tracks and other projects. I think this is important to remember. Some people respond very well to having a lot of things going on; the same, however, certainly can't be said for everyone. Don't make TM take too much out of your life; remember that what happens in here doesn't really matter and though some might be mad if you dont finish the judging in time, your well-being is far more important!* All stress isn't bad, most of it is actually good and helps you perform your best. But remember to relax too, TM shouldn't be another obligation in your life but a break from all other obligations. As usual I might not say exactly what i want to say but I'm getting better! It is really good to practise writing in english on here and I hope you understand me. *You should probably not accept being a judge if you aren't sure you will be able to finish it though! |

Life is a game.
No srsly, i feel like i stress more with the game rather than life itself. I'm about to avoid driving all the KO's, something I haven't participated in since mid-March Now, let's think of what's stealing our time ? Life, or rather gaming ? ...eh, it's nice to have some diversity with the obligations though . Slightly off-topic: It also takes a whole lot of work for me to release a single map, even if it's only a shorty. *looking at the BOTW* But.. it would look dull to see an unpolished map here though. Ugh, the potential. Great article though ! |

Yes, TMX can be stressful and as said, being part of the team results in even more pressure!
I remember dropping school stuff and other fairly important things because there were just some things that had to be done. You do have to try and find a balance between this, because otherwise one of those two is going to be neglected. |

eyebo (701) says: That's what I've always thought, but this is just a new recognition for you m8y! And you are SO right!! Also I'd like to think that despite sometimes people get mad because certain things happen, or don't happen, this is still one of the friendliest and best communities I know!. And to keep it that way: Haha well just read your post and you know it!!! |

This is a wonderful blog, because everything you say is true. And that's why I think it's even more important to thank everyone of the MX-team for their effort to keep this great website alive, the place where all the players get together, it's really the core of this game. In case of eyebo for example (and many other mx admins and moderators of course too) I really don't know how he can have the time to do so much around here, I really think sometimes it's his main occupation, but no, it's his free time, so thanks for your devoted and dedicated behaviour, which holds the community together, thanks for always being around, helping out and still being friendly.
And also a big praise to the great mx-community which makes the game what it is and even if it's maybe stressful sometimes, the work of anyone makes the game more fun for everyone, that's what I love about TM. To have fun, but also to cause fun - it's some kind of sharing in my view and everyone can take part. And of course you are right Tuta, real life is always more important than TM, so everyone should know how much time and effort he can spend in TM without ignoring his obligations and without letting the game be stressful, because it's still just a game and therefore it should make fun, it should be entertaining, but also relaxing, it has to be some kind of break to let you gain new power for your everyday life. |

This is so true, nothing can pick me up after a really crappy day like just sitting down and playing a couple rotations on a server. | |
