I have a few things to say about music. I am a listener in earnest. (Who else has listened to entire symphonies just for kicks?) When I listen to enjoy music, I enjoy progressive things. switching meters, chromatic progressions, and interesting instrumentation keep me listening. When it comes to popular stuff, I can't. I just can't. It's all just too similar. I can't stick the regurgitation of what performers are spoon-fed from the suits in my ears. I have nothing against it, I just don't listen to it; I prefer something more engaging. I'm also a sucker for the classical stuff.

RX Bandits
Beethoven
Maps and Atlases
Chicago
Holst
Westbound Train
the list goes on ... with a bunch of names that no one knows :p

-edit-
I also do my share of writing ;)

try this: f half diminished -> E 7 (major 3rd, minor 7th) -> Eb 6 (the triad with a C on top) It's funky. Play around with the inner voices and you get some sweet leading tone action. 8-|
