Did Queen ever play the Superbowl halftime show? I think not. Also, I feel like Queen's music is a novelty or sorts to all ages, sometimes a guilty pleasure. I've been to parties where Bohemian as been played and lovel by all. The Who is usually more loved by people familiar with the classic rock genre.

Still, I must admit that I am biased toward The Who because I helped a friend of mine when he was asked to play in a tribute: the entirety of Who's Next, note for note. So good.

i'm pretty much obscure/weird/avantgarde metal these days. surely not easy to listen to but there may be someone who could enjoy it anyway. so here we go.
behold... the arctopus - you will be reincarnated as an imperial attack spaceturtle - apart from being the best damn title around, this song is so math it could make pythagoras go insane, while meshuggah are pretty math as well but i guess many of you already know them. those two bands lead me to [url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CP5mVsLB-Qg"]gigan[/url] wich is a damn straight technical band that sings about some kind of obscure future with shitloads of evil people and wicked stuff like that. quite good though.
now we're goin deeper to the strange side of metal with an atmospheric black metal band called urfaust, those guys are surely fucked up but the soundscapes they can create.. damn, those are sick! plus it's one of the few black metal bands out there not always using the growl/scream. interesting for sure. a special mention goes to silencer one of those screwed up finnish guys who thinks suicide is cool; i usually don't like that kind of stuff but this album is for real the most depressing shit i've ever listened. i mean, his 'singing' scares the crap out of me and you can hear him cough and puking-like sounds (also there are loads of interesting stories about that guy but i'm not going to talk about them here. wikipedia is your friend).
last but not least the freak and experimental side: just the links to the 'songs'. not for everyone.

I never understood what's so good about "Behold... The Arctopus". The drums and guitar are really sloppy for me, and their chromatic and "avant-garde"-ideas sound like they just wanted to throw random stuff and add some really disturbing harmonies. I don't just get the idea. Or well, I get the idea, but imo the idea is horrible. I listen to a lot of technical music - apart from ambient and romantic classical, that's pretty much all I listen to actually - but I don't listen to it for the sake of odd time signatures. Everything in a song must serve a purpose. One thing must lead to another. If not, there has to be a really good reason for that. BtA doesn't qualify in this for me. In the end it's only my taste though, I have no problem if people like it.

If you really like avant-garde, and Meshuggah, you should check Fredrik Thordendal's solo album. It's amazing, surely belongs in my top3 albums of all-time.
