For RPG tracks, it seems the physics are not compatible with the MP3 physics niether.
Example: when hitting jumps to make it to a platform higher up, the physics when using speed boosters is now different. It doesn't provide enough boost to jump the gaps. I tested this out after converting some of my tracks over to MP4 and I am now forced to go back and adjust/rebuild them to accomodate for this change.
Even though we can convert the tracks over keeping the original validation times, the problem remains with players not being able to complete them from start to finish unless the authors go in and adjust/fix them to fit the new physics.
I personally do not want to go back in and fix my tracks and will not do this as it will consume too much time on my part. Any track made that requires precision moves will most likely be effected by the new physics.
My suggestion for MP4 is to do a complete reset to MP3. Allow the players the choice to upgrade if they choose so.
Before re-releasing MP4, make sure all the bugs are worked out first before releasing it.
Another suggestion,
- keep the size expansion from 2mb to 4mb,
- create seperate downloads for new blocks/items only.
- Reset the physics and sounds.
That's all that is needed. I enjoy Trackmania just as everyone else does. And I always like to see upgrades, expansions and improvements, but due to the low amount of players in TM2 rpg, I am really considering dropping back to TM1 rpg at this point or until this new update is 100% complete.
I know a lot of work and time went into this new update and many of us appreciate the effort of this being done, but as the old saying goes, if it isn't broke, don't fix it.
