Thats why we need a rating system. compare it to mtc, you leave points for a track to found the best track and that is great. add something similar and with this you can´t cheat the system
have 3 creteria when rating

fun 5
scenery 5
track 5

5 + 5 + 5 / 3 = 5 = rating 5
3 + 4 + 1 / 3 = 2.7

So to make a good track you need all of those if not you can´t be the botw track its impossible and don´t tell me this system meight be confusing becouse if you like a track you can simply add 3 rating to it, not very hard and, and this is similar to leave feedback, and if you play a track for 1 hours ? dont you have time to make a bit offert to award. ? and the user will see that he need to work on scenery becouse his tracks and fun rating has five, but he only got a 5+5+3 / 3 = 4.3 becouse of that.
maybe show all 3 rating for a track that no one see except the user. or/and just the overall rating that anyone can see.

This is not about to make a working system its about to make a new and fresh working system right ?, if not why this idea of starting from scratch, ? was quite silly, imho.

I write this statement becouse of the first time i read in the award forum thread was that we already have something similar in mind, and i tought, wow, this is exciting, and after 30 page of toughts and cool ideas and example, to find a good base, it just stop, why ? :'( and me and others have put alot of time and offert in this thread to come to a solution , it´s just crazy that nothing happends. ? AT ALL :|

why no rating system, :wait: was it to much complain in forum. ?
so Forzyy droped it or was it to much to coop with/to hard... ?

I think its just some very basic coding to make, and implement a working rate system, simple as (1 + 1)

rating system and uotm would be very good for this site. imho.

"uotm = underrated of the month"
"uotw = failed" this was my idea, but it fail when i read Space comment. geek
"e/ so it's not underrated of the week anymore^^ maybe underrated of previous week? lol."

read more about uotw http://tm.mania-exchange.com/threads/1492/underrated-of-the-week?page=1

read more about the award system If you like to read. ^^

but i think you do if you read all this, and we complain, becouse we care.

Wow kruemelyeti! That's something I haven't thought about, yet.
For me it is the striking argument.

What is fascinating about TM and especially the editor is that you have endless opprtunities. Build whatever you want, whatever you like, whatever you can imagine. By introducing a rating system like this you try to squeeze all those tracks in one system. A system that will limit your imagination and also creative ideas.

It's like rating a film. Some films don't have action, they aren't thrilling, funny or emotional, but nevertheless they are good, because they leave you in a thoughtful mood for example or because they motivate you in a certain way. Some aspects you can't include in a rating system and just because the film doesn't get a high score doens't mean that it's a bad one. It's the same with tracks.

There are so many great and unusual tracks out there and I bet even more creative ideas. Why shall we limit creativity? Why can't we keep things simple like they are at the moment? Simple, but comprehensive.

Besides the possible abuse and the questionable benefits a rating would bring (that all has been discussed before and before and before that), marti's point about time is interesting.
I give a lot awards while playing online. I have 5-6 min. to drive a track. It usually takes one run to know the track. Then you have about three runs to improve your time. During the last minute I decide if I give an award. Then I click the link to MX and write a small award, constantly thinking "Come on MX, faster, I hope the next track hasn't been started yet". I'm willing to give awards to tracks I like (and I do so), but it really shouldn't take too much time. Awarding the tracks afterwards is really no option for me, because I wouldn't remember the tracks wich where good.
I like the system the way it is...(maybe it just needs some more people to use it, to show that it can work).

Forzyy says:
Maybe a rating system is in the works, maybe it isn't. 8-|

I like your comment. (l)

We'd live in a perfect world if everyone would be willing to go through the thinking of giving a track a score. Whereas now, if you like a track, you can simply award it saying 'Nice job (y) ' or sth like that.

If people would have to think about giving the track scores on 3 criteria, the amount of awards given will probably decrease drastically. I do like the idea though, it would be very nice to get scores on seperate subjects so you would know how to improve your trackbuilding. But I just don't think it will work out ;)

+: why don't you like the award system as it is right now? instead of instantly giving a whole new system-idea, it would maybe be more useful if you'd say what you would like to see changed, modified in the future. Personally, I really like the award system as it is right now. Like the track? give an award, and see for yourself how much time you are willing to spend on that.

With this thought in mind, the idea might be implemented as an option: give players the choice of weither or not giving the track those 3 ratings. Decide for yourself if you've got enough time/ don't find it too much effort to give ratings. This sounds pretty nice to me :)

However, I don't think the ratings should be used for botw/botm placement. Hard to balance. They would be used just to clarify your opinion on the track, and give the mapper advice on how to improve his/her style. One side thought: if someone awards a track, this means he likes it. Awards are strictly positive.

This makes the mapper happy to get them, but then if you have a different idea on how much you have to like a track to give an award, this might lead to getting awards with 'great track! scores: 3/5 - 2,5/5 - 3,5/5' and other tracks getting the same amount of awards with scores '5/5 - 4/5 - 4/5'. While with the current system all awards have the same 'value' (not sure if that's a correct word for it) this would change with your system. I don't know if everyone would be happy with that.

I'm sorry for writing this much and I could probably even write a lot more, but I'm not gonna waste any more of your time that you can put into awarding a track ;)

I'd like to see something like this:

Fun 40%
Track 40%
Scenery 15%
MT 5%
