Everyone is pretty much okay with this new feature, so I will not debate any further on it. However, I fear that those "quick" awards will become a new standard and totally overshadow "classic" awards.

I spend a lot of time on my tracks, trying to get closer and closer to perfection, because my main motivation is people feedback. If awards were just a simple number then I would just rush my building process and upload one track per week.

I know that it is not your intention to completely remove written awards, but maybe add the possibility for the author to disable "quick" awards when uploading a track? This way authors can prevent people from giving awards without feedback, while keeping the "quick" awards enabled by default, something like this:

I don't know how difficult it would be to implement this kind of feature, but I would appreciate if you could take this into consideration :)

...

For most communities, many would default to the path of least effort, without doubt, but I feel there is a base of authors on MX that gives constructive feedback in their awards. Could more do so as well? Absolutely, but I think if there is at least some distinction between an award that has a comment vs. not, I think that would have some incentive to give feedback in the award.
A bit of rambling:
I'm definitely not defending any lack of good feedback, but a possible reason of some non-feedback can also be because of not knowing what exactly to give/reccomend. For example; I feel strongest in driving/building Stadium, but like to drive Canyon or Valley from to time to time. I know from my own experience - and it probably goes for any environment throughout TM - experienced building gets into a lot of subtleties, and sometimes I don't really know what to recommend aside from the basics of creativity, flow, design, etc, and also if it's something that hasn't already been mentioned before in the award list. Maybe it's just my personality, but if I see something is said before, I usually don't want to repeat it unless it's something that really stands out. And with an evolving userbase, it's hard to nail down a single answer to it.

If you are awarding some track that has at least 1 award instead of just using as a like button maybe have an option to boost available award that matches your filling about the track.

It probably isn't too difficult, but I think we should be aiming for one system that's active on all maps. I can understand that as author you want to have text in the awards that are given, but I'm not in favour of creating these differences.

My argument: Users, who do not want to write an award will just not rate it in the current system. People that feel like writing an award will keep doing it. The CL award will increase the number of people that are willing to give quick positive feedback. Then again, you can just type in an emoji and submit the award. So noone was ever forced to write detailed positive feedback.

Yes, CL awards will inflate the total amount of awards, but we hope that additionally to that, currently unrecognized mappers will get a chance to receive more awards, too.

The fact, that many recent awards do not include more than 3 words/emojis is illustrating perfectly, that the system is in need for an overhaul.

Let me throw in a little suggestion.
Depending on the mappers work, I write more or less very
detailed awards. Maybe, and thats my little suggestion, it could
be handy to give willing people a little "Multiple Choice" list.

Like:
Intro: not present, not bad, awesome, eycatcher
Raceline: easy, funny, tricky, hard, impossible xD
GPS: not present, useful, useless
Outro: basic, ecxtended, f*cking cool custom cams

Maybe some more or less points. And after this some
space fo the "normal" textbased award.
