Anaerob says:
What if we have a three-second platform bit, a two-second jump and then another two-second platform bit? I.e., do we count time driven on the surface, or time between surface changes

That's legal because air is no surface, i.e. air counts as 0 seconds of the previous surface.

Your answer Eyebo :cool:

between 2 platform sections you can place the upperpart of the banked small road section
you'll drive over it for a splitsecond but it will count as another part :)

You follow the rules and the time is resetted
THINK its not illegal yet

Looking at Banjee's quoted answer. I'm not sure it actually answers my question.

Just because air is "no-surface", does it mean it cancels out the one before it? Or does it simply mean it doesn't count towards the total?

In the quotes answer, the platform blocks take up 5 seconds... 3 before the jump... 2 after. The air in between it isn't counted. I understand that.

My question involves two road sections that are 3 seconds each and seperated by a jump. Does the air cancel out the first one? Or does the 3 seconds of road after the jump get added on to the 3 seconds of road before the jump and make it go over the allowed time?

The air does NOT cancel out the first one.
The simplest way of thinking is to ignore any airtime and only count when the car is driving on something, as if the jump never happened.

So, this is the function:
y = x + n + x where x + x ≤ 5s and n is irrelevant.
(x = surface, n = airtime)

Now, over to a question of my own: 5.xx seconds - allowed or not?

Broadsword is right. If airtime cancelled/reseted the surface, you could make a 100% platform track. Wouldn't make any sense. :)

@Broadsword: 00:05.00 is the maxium time allowed on one surface at a time.
