By that logic, anything that anyone ostracized for any reason must be smart like Socrates. For example, if I sentence an ant to die by means of my foot, it must be because it's just too smart. There's a logical fallacy with your argument. Sure, my example is a paradigm of an Appeal to Ridicule fallacy, but the preceding point remains valid. In fact, if nothing else, this entire paragraph may be considered an attempt at Proof by Verbosity because I assume that your knowledge of logical fallacies is not as expanded as mine. Then again, this attempt could be put to shame by taking advantage of certain resources that were not always available to dissenting parties.
