Now, i said i would talk about some of the reasons later, and here it is. The Top 5 reasons Storm will not really appeal to me/others


Number 5: Storm is pretty much Quake Live with a block based map editor...
Don't jump to conclusions on this one. I like the idea behind the physics in Storm, but honestly i'd rather just play Quake Live (which as far as i know) is the most up to date quake arena. Also about the map editor from tm2, i have nothing against it, but when i think of a FPS map editor, i think more closer to Halo Reach forge mode, and just more or less the ability to have the map just one big 3d free form block with being able to make a huge texture for it too.

Number 4: Certain weapons will be limited to certain blocks that you stand on...
This would be higher on the list, but there are more pressing issues i have that are higher than this. Now if it was just a simple "Go here to get the weapon and ammo, and return here to pick up ammo for it." I would be fine with it, but with how Nadeo is doing it, it's going to be a "Stay on this block to use the weapon that you want to use only." That itself breaks the first rule of a good fps, freedom to use weapons where you want to use them, not where the author wants you to use them.

Number 3: The community for SM could take a turn for the worse...
I've seen good fps communitys before, but the in-game community could be very hostile with the hackers, QQers, and immature kids in general. Pretty much, the forum community would be good, but the in-game one could be horrible .

Number 2: Storm just might end up being way too easy and simple
Nothing is wrong with easy and simple, but taking it way too far can have deadly results on how it's rated, and or how people feel about it. I'm not saying that Storm will be a bad game, i'm just saying that it just won't appeal to me, which in turn i would think it'll suck.

And Number 1: It's made by Nadeo.......
Yes i went there, with this being Nadeo's first FPS it could go really bad, or really good, but considering the direction they're going with it... i have a hunch that it'll go really bad. I mean there's plenty of reasons why it can go really bad both with gameplay and marketing, but i hope Nadeo will fix them during the beta or before and not after like with Canyon.

So yeah, that concludes this top 5, and my thoughts right now on storm... I'll buy it just because most of my tm friends are going to get it, but i won't really play it unless they're playing it. Now yes i could be exaggerating the cons a bit here, but these are just my opinions. So i'll review it when it comes out or something, so i can have my true final thoughts on it.

I seriously lack bots. I simply am not willing to spend money on a game which won't let me practice solo before going online.

That's the problem i'm seeing with SM:Storm, all the good things about the game, are also the bad things. I don't want it to be like that, but with what i've seen of SM all the pros and cons of the game are the same.

Exactly, 1v1 is not my vision of a fps. Now if there's videos showing gamemodes like ctf, team deathmatch, and team deathmatch pro, with actual team-play involved, i might take back my 2nd point.

I understand development delays, but i don't want it to end up like Duke Nukem Forever (or Canyon for that matter...), where it ends up with a lot of hype for a above average game.

Seeing the current 1v1 video's make me think I'm done with the game within an hour or two. It's just too simple.

Sure, it can be positive, but as we currently see waiting for a new update takes months, if not years.
