well first off all (this is what I do) Do not force yourself to build a perticular type of track.
try to find your own style of mapping :)...

I would like to see a mod where EVERYTHING is white, except block borders that are black. A bit like in Antichamber, you know. Also some blocks might be partly grey to show height changes etc. Checkpoints might have blue, finish and start red and gre...

I just wanted to tell you that this isnt the Case ;)
For new downloads? Existing ones aren't fixed as expected since they're simply registered multiple times, not worth the trouble to go through for fixing such a minor thing (imo).
