I have a few more question about this theme: Are we to 'reveal' the secret in some way? What if the Judges never find it? Should it be hidden in the background of the GPS or something, or should we go right out and give a GPS on how to do the secret route? Also, can we have multiple secret passages?

Thanks,

Good question.. thought about it too.. no idea.. probably the contestants should reveal it when there's nobody to find the secret after a week or something :)

If it's a special way to race on your Track I'd guess so.. if it's some MT work you probably want the drivers to find it..

Like more than 1 cut for the Track or more than 1 MT work? Depends on you.. I guess judges will have some opinions on the Secrets ;)

You are required to PROMPT the player to [search/discover/execute] the secret. Showing the solution is not required.

Example:
When the race starts, you can display, using an MT clip, the instruction: "Your goal: Jump across the valley in front of you"
or, you can have a custom sign/billboard saying: "Where is the 10th Checkpoint?"

If you feel like your secret might be too challenging, please upload a replay to your track on the track page, so that judges can look for "walkthrough".

I think I understand what you mean:
I am required to tell the player that there is a secret, but I am not required to go out and show what it is. I think I will give some hints in the intro/GPS (GPS to the regular route, not secret area/MT/route)

I have a perfect sign pack for this (l)

Thanks for the quick answer

I think it is OK if you tell the player "There is the following secret: [xxxxxx] in the map!" -- that would be acceptable as "PROMPT". A better way would be to say eg. "To win the gold medal, you must discover the secret [xxxxxxxx]"

(But it is not required that the secret be mandatory for gold time. There simply has to be a secret and the player must be prompted about it.)

Ok thanks. I think that what I'm working on will be perfect. I'm going to make it clear that there is a secret route, but its not going to be easy to find ;)

I think I'll upload a replay of the secret route as a "last resort" just in case the judges don't find it.

Thanks,

If you're prompted about the secret, it might take away a lot of the fun you might get from discovering it... just my 2 cents.

by "prompting" I think he means that you need to tell the player that there is a secret of some sort somewhere. You don't have to tell them what/where it is. Because if you don't tell the player that there is a secret, then they won't be looking for it ;) And besides, you can prompt them in a very "sneaky" way ;)

A very sneaky way would be to put the 'mtc' tag in your trackname...? ;)

You have to remember that, unlike for example BASCO stage contributions, your participating track will outlast the competition and be playable for long since after the results are done and a winner is chosen. I remember several occasions where I have been playing tracks with an MTC tag (eg online) while having no clue as to when it was from, let alone know what theme that specific month had.

Telling the player that there's a secret embedded in the track is not only an incentive for people to try and find it, but also a service, telling the player such a secret even exists.
