Although I do not want to say it's doing some good maps, but to say it would be the greatest Mapper who have gathered here, I should like to contradict my eyes. In other words, there are many many mapper who have better maps been published.

Thanks for the wish for success, as of now it is going very well! Authors have already been awarded over 130 awards for their great works and the comments are very positive all around. You can review the map group here. The reaction and the involvement of the community has been very good. We have a variety of racers in different time zones participating, which has been keeping the server active. Tm-Karma for the maps on the server is looking very good and also donations are coming in to increase the size of the donation bonus for the authors. Right now the donation bonus for the authors is at 57,380.

I guess you can say these are the results of first day. A very good result, especially for day one

You also have to remember that not everyone accepted their invitation, so we are missing some of the greats

If you had asked me to participate, maybe I might have fallen into this trap too, everybody is a bit conceited I guess. And I don't know if you and the ARK team did enough do think about this event, because you finally DID it. To write "some of the greatest" just plays down what happens here. And Patriot is right, this event IS arrogant and it delivers just one message: all other 100.000 mappers are bad or worse mappers. Or they and their maps even don't exist, because such things are possible now:
to find on your hp: "T!K: oh man ! so many new maps."
or:
"I am very eager to see all of the new maps!" (by you, the page before)
Congratulation to this event, finally we get new maps, because no "new" maps have been built the last years, hallelujah.

For me this event is a kick in the face of every mapper !
On MX maps can be awarded. I don't know if it's a good system or not, but it should be the only way because everyone can do it, not only a selfnamed jury. I'm very unhappy about what happens here and I'm shocked that MX supports it.

To avoid misunderstandings: some of the "new" maps are indeed great, I awarded some, but this is not my topic here.

I've been thinking a lot to write stuff like they did...
but I never did it to give the mappers a chance, but also if you see the listing: there are some great mappers on the list some of wich I'd love to see them return to tm, on wich they've been long forgotten on the games.

but on the other hand your list provides more than 40% worse mappers and around 10% crappy* mappers....
*sorry for saying this word
a simple example:
Mapper "X" (not calling names) has build in total 75 maps and has a total of 205 awards over these 75 maps released on MX.

But Mapper "Z" has only build 25 maps and has a total of awards on thse maps of 202.

than this makes me think that mapper "Z" is a better mapper than Mapper "X" but still "X" was choosen to be one of those who entered batch 1.

this is what I wanted to make clear.

On the other hand:

Author mania is a great innitiative imo but do not call them the best. this is something wich can hurt the feelings of others, or even let others think they aren't worthy of becomming one of the better mappers.

anyways Author Mania offers a platform to showcase mappers. like this batch of mappers will be showcased right now but maybe on the next Author Mania there will be a whole new batch. with all different mappers.
wich gives opportunitys to everyone else.

I'd love to see this project becomming a great succes to offer everyone a chance to shine!

It seems the general misunderstanding is due to the failure to interpret standard English. The word "some" refers to an undetermined, but considerable amount. In other instances, people may use the word "few". The event can be explained and described in many ways, but how you interpret that is at your discretion.

Yes, I was eager to see all of the new maps. It is a personal statement that you seemed to have transform in a convoluted way to make it look like a negative statement toward other mappers.

I will not retract what was stated. These are some of the greatest mappers for canyon.

I understand what you mean and strictly going off of totals would be rather picky . I wonder what the map list would have looked like if we only selected authors that had the most awards, or most maps. I am sure it would look quite different. Mapper "X" could have been a prolific builder. Mapper "Z" was most likely sent an invite, but didn't respond, which lead to the mapper not being in the event. There are too many scenarios to find a perfect answer to "if this, then this". Just remember that not all invites were accepted.

I am uncertain if AuthorMania will continue to a second event. It certainly has received much positive feedback on the server and from other parts of the community. It is possible that in the future we may present another AuthorMania.
