Hello and to welcome to the new Knockout map upload thread. We have been reviewing the various KO pools and decided that we need to focus on completing existing pools. That means we fill them up with maps, like we did with KO1 and then we close the pool, meaning no further maps are added. Right now we're focusing on completing the Time Attack pool KO2!

Any map which is part of a Knockout map group, is protected from general download. Replays are allowed, but can not be downloaded. Awards & Comments are allowed. The maps lists are visible to everyone.

Here's the current amount of KO2 tracks:
  • KO2 - less than 25 seconds Canyon 100/100 :done:
  • KO2 - less than 25 seconds Stadium 93/100 :build:
  • KO2 - less than 25 seconds Valley 98/100 :build:

    As you see, we again have lots of Canyon and fewer Stadium and Valley. We need to make each environment consist of 100 maps so we can close this pool, as well. Please help us out here by submitting Valley and Stadium maps. No Canyon at all.

    What maps do we need?
  • Valley & Stadium maps
  • less than 25 seconds author time
  • Generally quite easy and possible to finish in 1 try even if you have never played the map. (This includes respawning)
  • Prefix your map as KO2, then the name
  • No Environment mixes
  • Minimise block mixing, the maps needs to be clear and simple design.
  • No mods; default signs are preferred
  • Please don't add an editing password


    Uploading KO Maps
  • Staying logged in as yourself...
  • Upload your map here: Knockout Upload Page
  • The map appears in the Knockout Uploads List and on your maps list
  • The map is not downloadable by anyone other than the MX moderators
  • Don't upload your map anywhere else, e.g. on servers. The maps shall only be available in the KOs.

    There is no need to post about your uploads in this thread, but I don't mind if you do as it shows other people that we are actually getting this done and maybe they will submit a map too.

    If your map is approved
  • We move your map to the KO2 Group

    If your map requires modification
  • We move your map to the Modifications Needed List
  • Please read our comment and update the map
  • Add the tag "[update1]" before the prefix in the textfield here on mx. If the map is updated multiple times write [update2] and so on. After approval it has to be removed again.
  • We will check the map only if it has been tagged.
  • If the map doesn't get updated for months or it's obvious it won't be updated, it will be moved to the Rejects List

    If your map is rejected
  • If your map is rejected, this means the map is unsuitable
  • We move your map to the Rejects List
  • We will hide your map (in author settings) (you can unhide as you wish)
  • We will leave an explanation in the comments section
  • It means a huge amount of work would be needed for the map to be suitable.

  • I had someone take one of my maps, re-name it, and upload it as theirs before, so I always password my maps. Why would you need to see it in the editor, vs. in-game flight cam?

    Edit: I guess if the map can't be downloaded, it doesn't really matter, but I'm still curious why it's a problem?

    Nobody will take your KO maps and reupload them as theirs, but you can continue to password your other maps of course.
    I mainly use the editor, because I can look around the map a lot faster and start driving from anywhere. I want to make sure the maps are not only respawnable, but also finishable after you made a mistake and don't respawn. Respawning shouldn't be a go-to choice for the tiniest mistake. I can also build suggestions for changes etc in the map, if needed.

    Thanks for the clarification--that all makes sense. I have one map close to finished, and I'll probably have a couple more in the next week or so.

    (Also, damn fast replay on Camber Dance! Nice job! :o )
