TGYoshi says:
TMT isn't aimed at the TM2 fanbase, that's the whole point here.

That makes no sense tho, that's like saying soccer is not for soccer fans.

They want to go beyond the TM2 fanbase by providing a simpler, fully complete game. This is why they decided to go to consoles. (Obviously to earn money in the end)
Consoles have their limitations (networking-wise especially), which is why the game's quite different from TM2. Since the PC version is nothing more than a straight port from the console variant, you really shouldn't expect a lot here. Creating a more featured PC version will require more money, which isn't likely worth it financially.

I already noticed i don't expect anything from this in my first message. I also noticed the Ubisoft's greed. So i kinda said what you said already :d

Short verson: Nadeo is going to dumb down TM because of console peasents.

not "dumb down TM", but "make a dumbed down TM version". TM2 is still there, and Nadeo doesn't plan to dumb it down as far as I know.

Console gamers are like everyone else. We love games.

I'm not as much of a console gamer as I was in my youth. But console games were always great fun. I have such fond memories playing Super Bomberman, F-Zero, and Donkey Kong Country with friends. In more recent years, Split Second.

But consoles have their limitations, just like PCs do. Those limitations will dictate what features can be included in a new version of Trackmania where console players are the primary audience, and gamepads are the only input.

With Turbo, I'm trying to go in with as few expectations as possible. The only expectation I had from TM the first time I played it was that I could play with friends. I had no interest in the editor. I just wanted a free racing game I could install on all my PCs and friend's PCs and play on my LAN.

Even though Turbo costs $40, it's like getting it for $10 per player since it supports quad screen gameplay. Or $2.50 per environment per player if you want to break it down further. That's not bad, even if we've bought three of these environments in the past.

When you strip away all the complexities that have been introduced over the years, the core of TM is revealed. And it looks a lot like Turbo.

Will Turbo be the only TM I play from release onwards? Doubtful. ManiaPlanet's features are far too attractive. I loooove TMPLUS. I love all the little features of the editor. I love objects. I love building tracks with a mouse and keyboard. I love driving with keyboard. :p

But I will try to enjoy Turbo for what it is. And it'll probably be my go-to game for playing with friends.

My sentiments almost exactly. Modern Trackmania is awesome and has an incredible amount of built-in track customization and modding capabilities compared to the Trackmanias of yesteryear. Yet, at the same time, the core has remained: a pick-up-and-play arcade racer with a campaign designed to teach and challenge players of all skill levels as well as the same easy-to-use track-building tools used by the developers themselves. So really, it's the same Trackmania we've always had. Heck, it wouldn't surprise me if TMT has the same editor featureset as MP, just with a different interface based on whether you're using a mouse/keyboard or a controller.

On the ubisoft game page they did mention split-screen dual-racing with collision, sounds kind of interesting.

Personally, I hope they allow the option for all vehicles to have collisions, not just for vehicles in 1v1 games! That way, I could finally make demolition derby-style maps (such as a figure-8 with ramps in the crossover section)! Fun fact: when I was introduced to Trackmania by a friend (TMS specifically), my first thought was a demolition derby track - only to be massively disappointed when I discovered the game lacks collisions. Thankfully I moved on from that and learned to love the game as it was and is.

I'm disappointed TMT will require Uplay.

Bumping this up once more....
the previous tm turbo title...
it also didn't had an editor.
I bought it a few years back and I was so disapointed about it. the new title will be the same as I assume.

and 40$? € is worth more than $ and still it costs like 39.99 (40€) so thats way more....
