MTC Oct 2015 - Quantum Hourglass
2015-10-01 13:18:58
Welcome to the ManiaExchange Monthly Track Contest (MTC), October 2015.
In the MTC your task is to build a track on a given theme (see below). Later on, all of the entered tracks will be rated and a winner will be found.
Theme of the Month: Quantum Hourglass There are two glass bodies (zones) on the map for the sand (cars) to be around. The weird thing is that these glass bodies only touch at one edge, which is so thin the sand cannot get through it. Nevertheless you have to let the sand switch between the glass bodies at least 3 times.
Fortunately, quantum physics is on your side and you can abuse the tunnel effect to let the sand tunnel from one glass body into the other - even if the sand has to go outside of the glass bodies for a short period of time. Sounds impossible and, yes basically it is impossible to happen with sand, but very small scaled particles like electrons or trackmania cars can do it.
Science bxtch!
Deadline All tracks should be submitted before the end of Monday 19, October 2015 PDT (To give our Americans a last full day to built too)
Prize Honour and the right to brag! (Jozii used to say that. I hope anyone still remembers him? )
The top 3 winners will receive a showcase of a track of their choice (< 10 awards)
Rules
You are only allowed to build inside two diagonally opposite quarters of the map. (See yellow areas in stadium below)
Clips pointing outside the yellow areas are allowed.
The car is not allowed to touch the ground outside of the yellow building area.
updated: The route has to switch between the two quarters at least 3 times. In most cases it means that the car has to jump over the "forbidden" area. Only in the very middle the car could make it without jumping, if it drives over the edge of two platform blocks.
You can use these base maps to build on. The map is divided into four equally sized quarters already. You are allowed to delete any helpers on these base maps
Track-/Laplength below 2min
Custom objects allowed
Envimixing allowed
Blockmixing allowed
Custom Titlepacks forbidden- all Titlepacks from Nadeo allowed (Canyon, Stadium, Valley, TM2)
No PressForward, PressBackward or press[AnyKey]-maps
MTC in mapname
1 map per author
How to submit
To enter a track, simply upload it and post a link to your submission in the submission thread.
You can update your map within the deadline as many times as you want.
Judging We'll use the well known public judging system:
Everyone is allowed to judge, even players who submitted a map (give your own map a 10)
Every map will be judged with marks from 1 (bad) to 10 (good).
Note that you have to judge a stage entirely, you cannot judge only half of it.
More details will appear after submission ends
Good luck, and as always: If you have any questions, please ask
Examples The Stadium and Canyon building areas are split into 4 quarters with an area of 16x16BlockUnits.
The Valley building area is split into 4 quarters of 24x24BlockUnits.
This is an example map in stadium. Jumps are indicated by a dotted line.
The purple colors only indicate the cursor position in the first picture. The editor plugin for the cursor position starts counting at 0
Interresting, it wil be fun to make a multilap map Stupid question, I am not sure what you mean by your second point about clips pointing out... Did you mean blocks?
