Welcome to the ManiaExchange Monthly Track Contest (MTC), January 2017.

In the MTC your task is to build a track on a given theme (see below). Later on, all of the entered tracks will be rated and a winner will be found.


• Theme of the Month: Darn those cheap contractors
  Apparently your crew skimmed costs. Make a track 3500 coppers or under with at least 2 re-uses
  
  
  • The copper size includes everything. Find a way to make it.
    
  • The limit is hard. If your track is 3501 coppers then it's DQ'd
    
  • A re-use is considered crossing the same section twice or more. Sections can be of 1 or more blocks. When I say "same" I mean the literal same, not an equal one placed somewhere else.
    
  • Doing a re-use section more than twice is considered a single re-use
    
  
  
  
• Deadline
  All tracks should be submitted before the end of Sunday 22, January 2016 PDT.
  
  
• Prize
  Honour and the right to brag! (Jozii used to say that. I hope anyone still remembers him? )
  The top 3 winners will receive a showcase of a track of their choice (< 10 awards)
  
  
• General Rules
  
  
  • Track-/Laplength below 90 seconds
    
  • Custom objects allowed
    
  • Envimixing allowed
    
  • Blockmixing allowed
    
  • Custom Titlepacks forbidden
    
  • No PX tracks
    
  • MTC should be present in the mapname. Example: mtc.Marbella style
    
  • 1 map per author
  
  
• How to submit
  
  • To enter a track, simply upload it and post a link to your submission in the submission thread.
    
  • You can update your map within the deadline as many times as you want.
  
  
• Judging
  We'll use the well well well known public judging system:
  • Everyone is allowed to judge, even players who submitted a map (give your own map a 10)
    
  • Every map will be judged with marks from 1 (bad) to 10 (gud).
    
  • Note that you have to judge a stage entirely, you cannot judge only half of it.
    More details will appear after submission ends

1 or more blocks. As long as you cross it twice it's a re-use

I think you should edit the definition from under 3500 to 3500 or under then so maps with a display cost of 3500 won't risk being disqualified

Just to clarify: can you drive on two different surfaces/parts of a block and make that count as a re-use? E.g. driving both inside and on the top of the tunnel platform blocks in Canyon.

Yes, indeed. I actually expect that to happen a lot. It was the base idea for my first valley map and something I think isn't exploited enough.

Custom objects are definitely allowed as stated under the general rules (just remember to embed them). Custom mods and music aren't mentioned, but I'd say it's safe to say that they're also allowed; no one's been disqualified before for using them (as far as I know, anyways).
