Posted by me in the XT forums:

I'm really liking it so far, not as fun as island since noslide driving is kind of boring imo, but I absolutely LOVE the drifting physics. It's definitely taken me hours of play to become a decent driver, being that even though I can get through most easy tracks I'm still about 5 seconds off the top runners. :-w

Driving without sliding feels a lot like stadium, only it's much more responsive at lower speeds and less so at higher speeds in comparison to stadium. The drifting physics feel completely new to me since they sometimes involve a little counter-steering and a lot of precise movements to keep the car straight, but maybe that's because my ps3 controller is more on the sensitive side compared to what I used to use.

Been in the editor today and got about 30 seconds of track done, but still feels very short, I can bet on most of my tracks being over one minute in this game. ;) It's annoying that some pieces won't fit together since the blocks are larger than in most TMU environments, but because you can place so many things on platforms the possibilities for slippery tech tracks are plenty. I think I might actually be able to create a half decent tech track for once that's not in coast. :p

Still, with one environment compared to mapping with 7 I'll probably try to explore every type of track with different lengths and difficulties. With the heavier and more loose controls though, I bet the easier, or at least more forgiving tracks are going to be the most fun and the most popular, even later on in the game's life. Bye-bye, perfect calculation. :d

Awesome environment in my opinion, perfect physics for competition and tight tech tracks with lots of sliding.

Drifting is the most fun I've had with trackmania.

Love this shit.

MOAR!!!!! 2011-08-18 18:00:02
It looks pretty good, but I Want MOAR!!!!! More blocks, more skins, more opportunities! I wanna create solo campaigns with medal ghosts as in TMS. I hope TM2's script will give many opportunities and we will can build tracks with different objectives and plots. I hope and still waiting for September 14 and full version of the game.

P.S. New graphic and physic engine is cool! Driving with 4 keys is so hard, because there is a lot of narrow sections.

I love how drifting makes even generic tracks interesting and competitive. Now driving also requires skill, not just building tracks.

There do seem to be a lot of useful blocks missing though... :s

my first impressions were mainly positive. i already got used to the fullspeedtracks without any driftin (: but i have to get used to the drifts, which are quite hard to learn but also much fun to do.

I like the editor, seems to be pretty complex at first sights and i had to search pretty long for a couple of blocks. In addition there are maybe not enough blocks. dont know whether the editor will be updated again, though

I think it's very much like coast with a little bit island and stadium.
And it's quite simple. Maybe too simple. Let's see what tricks the pros will find here in the future. :p
Graphics are awesome and so is the atmosphere. All in all: Much fun! :)

Btw: Only thing I really don't like: Not much sceneryoptions in the editor. >.<

Fully agree with enai. And I'd like to add that the scenery possibilities seem ridiculously limited, compared to the what the overall editor contains.

Just finished my first track and gotta say... I'm a bit disappointed with the editor. More road blocks and scenery blocks (for example something like that rooftop thingy that can be seen on one road block) wouldn't have hurt. MT is, from what I've seen almost identical BUT THEY LEFT OUT FX COLOURS... how could they?!

Hello all

I just test the editor a lttle... i've some bug... and he is a little slowest than the first trackmania on my PC. but all blocks are famous and just don't find the loop like the trailer (maybe because it's a beta version for multiplaying?)
but all in all it's a pure happyness!
plug'ins are not a thing thaht i like use but i understand utility for some players.

About driving, to me : it's a mix between COAST and ISLAND with a little touch of STADIUM. like i said to some peoples, it remember me a driving style like RIDGE RACE in arcade or PSOne, but more flexible with graphics from DESTRUCTION DERBY 2 in my best dreams :d
