Rules for the MX Knockout
Rule 1: Elimination
At the end of each round, the last placed driver, or all those who do not finish the race, are forced into spectate mode. This is the whole idea of the Knockout. Once you are last placed, you are out of the remaining races.
At the admins discretion the number of KO's for each track can be increased above the normal single KO.
Rule 2: Loss of Connection
As a general rule, we can't reinstate players who lose their connection to the Knockout Server. The reason for this is that the Knockout has lots of people taking part and we can not keep track of all the different players who are still in the Knockout or not. As well as this a driver could theoretically disconnect himself if he feared being knocked out with the expectation to be put back into the Knockout when he rejoins. So therefore to protect the integrity of the Knockout, we can not reinstate individual loss of connections, except in the following circumstances...
1) During the first round we may repeatedly run 'ForcePlayAll' command which puts everyone who joins/rejoins the server into the KO.
2) If lots of players lost their connection, then we will pause the Knockout, get as many people correctly reinstated as we can, and then resume the knockout.
3) If we are really late in the Knockout and a disconnection will strongly effect the final result, then we can reinstate if all the other players still involved agree to it and pause racing so it can be managed by the admin.
Special Note: After round 1, we are
not obliged to reinstate
any disconnection !
However, if an admin can see in Rounds mode a player disconnection occur during the warmup and the player reconnects before the race starts , and the admin can easily perform the reinstate then there is room for discretion, but if disconnection results in missing a round, there is not room for discretion.
If an admin can see in TimeAttack mode a player disconnect, and reconnect before there is half the time remaining (typically around 50 seconds allowing enough time for a player time to be posted), and the admin can easily perform the reinstate then there is room for discretion.
Remember an admin may be busy playing or attending to other admin duties. It may not always be possible for them to reinstate players, it would be very helpful if you reconnect and feel you could be reinstated by the admins discretion please advise in chat your login.
Its important that everyone knows there is no advantage to be gained by disconnecting.
Rule 4: Player Retirement (only applicable in rounds)
If a player accidently retires they will not be re-instated.
Rule 4: Author/Driver tracks
For the final six races (so once there is only 7 drivers left), any track which is made by one of the remaining participating drivers will be skipped by the admin. until that time we play on as normal when the author is still in the Knockout.
Rule 5: Environment/Author Balance
At the start of the Knockout, the admin shuffles the map pool. The pools themselves are reasonably well environment balanced, but the random nature of shuffling the maps means that sometimes any particular environment may not be played. We will not skip maps based on the environment, or the author, having been selected 'too often'.
Rule 6: Arrive on time
You cant join in with the Knockout if you arrive late. We will try and get late arrivals into round 1, but even that is not a promise. There is not exceptions to this rule, we can't have rules for one person and different rules for someone who may not be so well known.
Rule 7: Unsuitable tracks
We do test all the tracks to try and ensure they are suitable for use in the Knockout. But should you play a map which you think is really not suited, then please tell us about it on the MX Knockout forum (there is a thread for it). We will not skip maps during the Knockout based on track suitablity for purpose. Any issues of that kind should be discussed on our forums to be resolved for the next knockout not the current knockout.
