    Welcome to the ManiaExchange Monthly Track Contest (MTC), December 2016.

    In the MTC your task is to build a track on a given theme (see below). Later on, all of the entered tracks will be rated and a winner will be found.

  • Theme of the Month: Four Verticals
    Back at it again with the NFL references. What I mean is that start, finish and checkpoints must all be placed facing the same direction

    • That is, if your track starts going "north", all checkpoints must respawn towards "north" and the finish must face "north"
    • Checkpoints must be crossed in the general direction of their respawn. There's some leniency since you could cross them in diagonal, but there shouldn't be more than 90 degrees of rotation between intended CP crossing direction and respawn direction.
    • Checkpoints (besides those unrespawnable by nature) must also be respawnable, as it can be an easy way to check that you're following the rules correctly
    • The name includes the minimum amount of checkpoints to be placed: 4 counting the finish line. Of consideration: all finish blocks count as a single one, so basically 3 CPs and finishes.
    • Fake finishes are excluded from this rule, but any extra "real" finish blocks must face the same direction.
    • While there's some leniency in the checkpoint crossing direction, there isn't any in the checkpoint placing direction. This means that if you plan to use objects for either the start, the finish or any checkpoints you have to place them in the same direction as every other one.


  • Deadline
    All tracks should be submitted before the end of Sunday 18, December 2016 PDT.

  • Prize
    :gold: Honour and the right to brag! (Jozii used to say that. I hope anyone still remembers him? :p)
    :gold: The top 3 winners will receive a showcase of a track of their choice (< 10 awards)

  • General Rules

    • Track-/Laplength below 90 seconds
    • Custom objects allowed
    • Envimixing allowed
    • Blockmixing allowed
    • Custom Titlepacks forbidden
    • No PX tracks
    • MTC should be present in the mapname. Example: Shuttleloop Highway«MTC
    • 1 map per author

  • How to submit
    • To enter a track, simply upload it and post a link to your submission in the submission thread.
    • You can update your map within the deadline as many times as you want.

  • Judging
    We'll use the well well well known public judging system:
    • Everyone is allowed to judge, even players who submitted a map (give your own map a 10)
    • Every map will be judged with marks from 1 (bad) to 10 (gud).
    • Note that you have to judge a stage entirely, you cannot judge only half of it.
      More details will appear after submission ends

Now this sounds like a really fun theme to build a track for :). I'll try to get something finished in time for once and I really hope that this theme (which should be a good theme for everyone) will attract more people again (y)

Just to make sure, in the case of a multilap, is it 3 CP + the start/finish line?

Yes, of course. They are checkpoints and you have to go through them.

I want to have some clarifications about that point. Does that mean that a) the player should be able to finish the map if he respawns at a respawnable CP, or b) the map must gave respawnable CP only? (that is, the map may be impossible to finish after a respawn).
