Considering there's 9 votes I'll probably vote later today and enact the rule where highest and lowest votes get ignored. You still have time until then to vote if you want to.

Ok, voted, voting closed. Someone fucked up their name but I only had 10 vote entries so I'm letting it slide.

The results are in!
The winner is... [drumroll.wav]

Congratulations snake55wildcat on your victory!

Silver and bronze go to:
:silver: "MTC - Phoenix Dive by   Arkive
:bronze: "mtc - monument. by   iHq/fredair.esu

Congratulations to all podium finishers, you've earned yourselves a showcase! To see the full result disclosure, click here. To just see the scores, see the image below.

Worth noting that Snake's track got six 10s from the voting, including his. Given the fact that we had 10 voters I enacted the rule where the highest and lowest scores are removed from the judgement, so self-10s wouldn't make a difference anyways as they're not counted.

For future reference, since I'm no longer a part of the moderating team contact Eyebo or Ozon for the showcase. Now go check out this month's contest, and again, congratulations to everyone and specially podium finishers.

Don't listen to Snake, he deserved every 10 he got.

But seriously, thanks for the podium! I'm glad my somewhat bumpy map was enjoyable. Ignoring my own map's placement, these results turned out about how I thought they would. It was good to see all the comments, though! It's always good to know why I got the scores I did, whether high or low. I hope to see you all in the May MTC!

"random player who didn't judge a stage entirely" says:
After I got 4 runs ruined by that, I finally gave up.

"Another random player who didn't judge a stage entirely" says:
Didn't finish this track

"Rules for Juding" says:
Note that you have to judge a stage entirely, you cannot judge only half of it.

sorry, but this is outcome is so disappoining & I can't comprehend what the judges thought when voting. If you can't finish a map, don't judge. Especially Stereogang just didn't give any points & his only reason was difficulty. He didn't mention anything else (creativity etc.)...

btw ty osaka for hosting the mtc & your comment is the only one that makes sense, since you talk about track design & others just didn't drive it.

I saw many people criticizing the lack of respawn. Can we maybe talk about this fact? How important are respawns nowadays, when the goal is to set the fastest time?

absolutely rekted komment by fredair, i agree actually... those judges simply shouldn't count and i am dissapointed that they were included, fucked up thing is that it's not possible to solve, because if it would count on other maps, they are still judges including points, affecting final result at the end, so we have guys judge without finishing, which is retarded imo DAMN maximum would be if we would just need to say that judges from retarded people (assuming because they did retarded thing) wouldn't count... but the ego itself from you, fredair, is very high, if we focus on creativity for example, as i said before on your deleted track (was too lazy to type again), everyone would have to get -1 from point, because after 11 years of stadium envirovement, every turn can simply be taken as copied, but especially from your when i saw like 3 transitions i saw in flyps, joost and simo_900's maps, same as mine (my ego is high now because i compare my maps with your XD)
my opinion on your final question is that it can be flow of the map and other people maybe didn't like it
hopefully you readed my whole comment with shitty english i was writing and spending my expensive time for you guys (!!), specifically, 7-8 minutes, and hopefully you did get my point, ofc don't take it so serious as you are already used to it

Yo Fredair.

Indeed i did not "finish" your map. But I actually spent more time on your map than I did on many other maps.
And correct me if I'm wrong : When getting to the backward area, it's nearly straight to the finish line. So I did not cross the finish line, but I drove 95% of the map, or even more. So I think my jugment is still worth something.

And to make it clear : I did not stop driving after 4 attemps ... I stop driving it after 4 times getting randomely ejected of the track at the backward transition, which mean at the very end of your track. In fact, your map is the one I drove the most.

I recognize in your map the scenery and the originality. But as I already said in my comment, this originality made the map not harder, but more random, which is the reason why I gave such a bad grade. I found no pleasure driving it.

H u n t z - mtc that you did in january was a really good map, It got disqualified yes, but if it wasn't, I would have give it a 10 without doubt. Because it was fun to drive, nicely done, not unfair in any part and not random.

Snake's map and yours were worked a lot, they were very original and unique, but both of them had random spots that made them frustrating to drive. And so I gave them a similar notation, as it was for the very same reasons.

I understand clearly that my notation on your map doesn't please you after all the time you spent to do it. But to me, a good map is a map that I can hunt, figh for hundreds of second without been randomely ejected of the way 3/4 attemps.
You have made some awesome maps, and I'm sure you will do more of them in the futur, and if I didn't enjoyed this one, it isn't because I didn't drove it. And difficulty isn't what made me vote that way : in december, Tsunami's map was the hardest, and I gave it a 10 as I enjoyed it.

I don't think this message will satisfie you more, but I hope it will still help you to understand my point of view and why I gave it only 4. I also hope that you didn't took my jugment personnaly, as it was my though about this map only, and not about you.

Oh dear.

Here's my opinion on this, from top to bottom:

fredair.esu says:
"random player who didn't judge a stage entirely" says:

"Another random player who didn't judge a stage entirely" says:
Didn't finish this track

Well, this is an awkward situation. Yes, the rules do indeed say that you have to drive the map entirely, but after inspecting the raw voting spreadsheet, I noticed something: reviews from voters the did not finish the map did leave reasons why they didn't finish. I'm not going to run through every case, but one case had a reviewer explaining why they didn't finish, and it even said that judges could throw the review out. But I feel that focusing so much on these reviews is a bit missing the larger issue:

fredair.esu says:
sorry, but this is outcome is so disappoining & I can't comprehend what the judges thought when voting. If you can't finish a map, don't judge.

If I were a judge on this MTC (which I'm not) and didn't finish the track due to difficulty or some other reason - is that a good enough reason to not only throw the score out of the results, but the reasoning behind it? In my opinion, if I made an MTC map, I would actually perfer that someone that didn't finish the map left a reason as to why. It's far more valuable to the the person who made the map to say "I didn't finish, here's why" than say "I like it" with no explanation. While the former is negative, it's still constructive. Meanwhile the latter is positive, but gives no help to the mapper as to why it's good. But I digress a bit. Continuing:

fredair.esu says:
I saw many people criticizing the lack of respawn. Can we maybe talk about this fact? How important are respawns nowadays, when the goal is to set the fastest time?

The first half of this is actually a good point. The rules don't say anything about respawnable checkpoints, but the issues that can create are valid. As to how this relates to a map's goal being to finish it as fast as possible - that is a debate for another time, though one worth having.

This is a little hard to follow for me, so I apologize if I misread this. But it seems that your point is that the votes from the judges that did not clear the map should be tossed entirely. I already put my thoughts on throwing out the votes above this, so I will move on.

tsunami says:
everyone would have to get -1 from point, because after 11 years of stadium envirovement, every turn can simply be taken as copied,

I disagree: even if a large number of people made a turn that all look similar to each other, that turn is part of the map - not the whole map. Plenty of people have put wallrides in Stadium, but I haven't heard much complaints about that, even if 90% of all wallrides function the same more-or-less. The thing is, a map can use ideas from another map, but use them differently in terms of their place in the overall map and other contexts.

To close this out, I feel like I should add in this: if you have an issue with something, ask about it. There may be reasons why something is the way it is that you don't realize. Sometimes even, you might realize that something is amiss, and asking about it can lead to a good solution the the problem. The trick here is that simply saying "this isn't the way to do things" is a statement of your opinion, but not a course of action. By asking "Why don't we do it like this?" or "Why is it like that", you are voicing your opinion and putting out a way to do something about it.
